Bruce Markets Plans Weekend Trading Extension
SEC-registered broker-dealer Bruce Markets has revealed its intention to push US equity trading beyond the traditional five-day week. The company, which currently offers overnight sessions running from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time, says the upcoming expansion would deliver continuous, 24/7 access to US-listed equities for investors worldwide. The company describes this as the first round-the-clock US equity trading ecosystem available to a global audience.
The rollout is expected within the next several months but remains contingent on regulatory approval.
Jason Wallach, CEO of Bruce Markets, framed the move as a response to the reality that significant corporate news rarely aligns with Monday's opening bell. He noted that the firm and its partners are working to dismantle the constraints of conventional market structure and reshape how participants around the world execute trades in American stocks.
Infrastructure, Partners, and Clearing Arrangements
The weekend expansion will be executed through Bruce ATS, the alternative trading system that Bruce Markets operates. Rather than routing weekend orders through Nasdaq's primary stock exchange, the structure simply extends the company's existing overnight framework into the weekend.
Nasdaq will supply the underlying trading technology to support the additional session, while Bruce Markets retains responsibility for administering the ATS and enforcing its trading rules.
On the back-office side, Apex Clearing Corporation will handle clearing, carrying, and custody functions. That includes processing settled trades, maintaining the associated brokerage records, and holding both the securities and cash linked to participating accounts.
The project is underwritten by fresh strategic investment from PEAK6 Investments, Bruce Markets' majority shareholder, alongside Robinhood Markets. The broader investor roster also includes Apex Fintech Solutions, Fidelity Investments, Nasdaq Ventures, NH Investment & Securities, tastytrade, and Webull.
Positioning Within the Wider 24/7 Trading Landscape
Continuous market access is already the norm in digital-asset trading, and certain prediction-market platforms operate across weekends and public holidays. Traditional futures and foreign-exchange markets enjoy extended trading windows but still observe a weekend closure.
In the US equity space, the shift has been more incremental. Brokers have rolled out overnight weekday sessions, and several major exchanges are pursuing schedules that approach 23 hours of trading per day across five days. None of those models, however, bridge the weekend gap.
Bruce Markets' proposal is designed to eliminate that final break, offering a regulated US venue where equity trading never pauses.
Open Questions for Traders and Brokers
Despite the announcement, several practical details remain undisclosed. The company has not published a specific weekend trading schedule, identified which securities will be available during the extended hours, or confirmed a firm launch date. Until regulatory review is complete and those parameters are clarified, traders and broker partners should treat the initiative as a planned but not yet operational development.
